When our Managing Director received an urgent call out late at 9.30pm at night from our client at the InterContinental Park Lane Hotel, the situation became clear immediately. A video was sent showing a burst bellow on the main hot water pipework system, leaving the entire hotel without hot water. The client needed a fast solution, to restore hot water for the guests.
Bust Pipe Repair Urgent Late Call Out
Although IDWe Ltd does not operate as a call-out M&E company, we stepped up without hesitation to help our client. By midnight, we had mobilised a skilled team of engineers to tackle the emergency.
Firstly, our engineers headed to our in-house fabrication workshop in South East London. We knew no parts would be available at that time of night, therefore the team collected materials and equipment required to create a bespoke temporary solution.
Once onsite at the hotel in Park Lane, our engineers isolated and drained the 200mm LTHW burst bellow. They then fabricated a 200mm stool piece right there at the hotel, before welding and installing it into the pipework to stop the leak. Step by step, the team worked to restore full flow back into the building.
By 4am, hot water service was reinstated throughout the hotel. Guests woke up with running hot water, and our client enjoyed complete peace of mind. A permanent replacement can now take place at a convenient time.
